In 2026, shadow becomes as important as light. Shadow Play Installations turn lobby walls and floors into live canvases. It is design 'from the reverse,' where the main impression is created through barriers to light. This approach gives the space a mystical depth and variability.
Architecture of the Void
We design complex carved partitions and suspended sculptures that, at a certain lighting angle, cast recognizable or abstract images onto lobby surfaces. The reception desk can be augmented with a 'shadow logo' that appeared on the floor only at certain hours. We use materials with varying degrees of transparency: perforated aluminum, laser-cut steel, and textured glass.
Kinetic Shadow
Moving Silhouettes
By integrating motorized light sources, lobby shadows can 'come alive' — slowly floating across walls, transforming, and flowing into one another. This creates a hypnotic effect that forces guests to slow down. We tune movement algorithms to correspond with human biological rhythms: invigorating rhythms in the morning and slow, soothing ones in the evening.
